Easily update your manicure on the go with Coconut Nail Art

January 15, 2017

Am I the only one who doesn’t like to spend hours of valuable vacation time sitting in a nail salon?  I suppose it depends on how long said vacation is (I know, I know….first world problems haha;)).  I usually try to get a gel coat mani-pedi before any long holiday, but sometimes my never ending to-do list gets the best of me and I’m unable to squeeze an appointment into my schedule, so I end up doing the job myself.  Certainly not the end of the world, but whenever I DIY it, the polish rarely lasts more than a week and I hate having to pack nail polish….I’ve got enough beauty products crammed into those TSA approved ziplock baggies as it is.

For any of you who can relate to this, I think I may have found the solution to our first world problem, and it all started with these little stocking stuffers my sister got me for Christmas.  They’re basically like very durable stickers that adhere to your nails and they’re super easy to apply (I thought for sure I’d screw it up, but it’s no-joke easy and only took me about 15 minutes).  They’re surprisingly durable, AND they’re less than 5 bucks!

I feel like they would be perfect to slip in my purse or carry on, and I could even apply them on my flight without offending any other travelers with the unpleasant odor of actual polish (I should clarify I have never, and would never recommend polishing your nails on an airplane;)).

The kit comes with all the tools needed to get the job done, so long as your nails are clean and polish free.  When I travel, I always bring the individual packets of nail polish remover wipes like these, again, so I don’t have more liquid-y stuff and hold up the airport security line looking like a hot mess with half a dozen plastic baggies of toiletries;).  Plus they’re much easier to slip into a little pocket in my carry on, vs a bottle.  So if you start off your two week vacay with a fresh manicure and it starts to chip mid-trip (story of my life), you can just bust out a handy polish remover wipe and your nail art kit, and voila…..you’ll look like you just spent two hours in a nail salon without actually wasting your valuable vacation time doing something you can do back home;)

I usually go for more neutral polishes, but it’s been kinda fun wearing this funky little print (pardon my stubby little nails…it’s been a while since I’ve had a gel coat, which is the ONLY way I can get these tiny things to grow;)).  They do have these kits available in a few solid colors as well, for anyone who’s wanting a more traditional look.

What are some of the beauty-related issues you all run into when traveling?  I, for one, have yet to master the art of packing, but I think I’m getting better.  My husband would probably beg to disagree.
