It’s no secret that I absolutely love hats of all sorts. They’re literally the perfect way to top off almost any look and take it to the next level. But that’s not the only reason I wear them, they serve a purpose too. And when on vacation, that purpose is to hide a rough hair day.
There is nothing worse than an antsy, impatient, toe tappin hubby when trying to get ready for the day while you’re on holiday. To Michael’s credit, now that we’re going on 11 years of marriage, he’s definitely calmed down over the years and has learned to just chill out and watch TV or read, until he sees me start to pack up my purse for the day. That’s his cue that I’m just a minute or two from being ready to walk out the door.
Even though his patience level has vastly improved, I’ve also learned not to push my luck by taking too long. Of course I always set an alarm to get up early enough to accomodate my whole getting ready process, but I’m also just as excited as him to get out of our Airbnb and start exploring, so I like to keep the primping to a minimum. One of the best ways to trim down my whole ‘beautification process’ is to cut out having to wash, blowout, and/or curl my hair…which is usually a lonnnng process. Mostly because my hair takes FOREVER just to blow dry. But seeing as I have the biggest forehead known to man, I don’t look especially cute sporting a bun or pony, so I love being able to throw on a fun hat to, A: cover up some gnarly hair, and B: effortlessly elevate my vacay look, and this budget friendly panama hat is the perfect travel essential for summer. Best of all, it comes in over 30 different color variations.
Another, somewhat new, travel essential of mine is the bum bag. Love them or hate them, you have to admit they’re perfect for long days of sightseeing. This one comes in several colors, but personally I’m all about the basic camel or black, and it’s under $20. Of course, on days I have to carry more, I reach for one of my tried and true crossbody bags, so I can still go hands free for when I want to double fist some gelato, wine, etc.
So between this hat, the bum bag, and these partially elastic waisted shorts, I am ready for a summer adventure wherever they have excellent food.
France anyone?
