Happy Humpday, friends! I don’t know about you all, but I am so ‘off’ this week after the long weekend. I didn’t realize until like 3:30pm yesterday that it was actually Tuesday when I started getting ready to head to my Monday spin class (major face-palm moment). Thankfully, I realized my confusion before I left for the gym. Needless to say, since I basically lost a day this week, I cannot believe Wednesday is already here!
After essentially experiencing fall again while we were in Scotland, I’m finally getting back in the swing of spring (hey, that rhymed!;)). My last mini shopping spree before Scotland involved a few vacay purchases for our trip, and the springiest things I’d bought was this shirt dress and this fun polka dot dress. Frankly, I’m shocked we actually experienced weather that was warm enough for me to wear a dress at all during our trip, but I was soooo thankful to have them in my suitcase since it did finally get warm(ish). I was pretty much ‘over’ wearing scarves and beanies while everyone back home was sporting shorts and tanks.
Before our plane even touched down in Charleston, I was already on the hunt for some cute spring threads, and I was so tickled when I came across these ruffle trim shorts. Why am I so tickled? Because when you’re a shorty like me, the smallest details can really make a huge difference in lengthening these vertically challenged stumps I walk around on, and I already knew this style works wonders from this romper I wore in Santorini last year that has a similar cut. The next best part? They’re only $11….I know **GASP**, right?! I bought them in black as well, and I heart them both. The quality is just as good as a lot of department store brands, so I really can’t believe what a great deal they are. I wore the outfit in the above pics to a memorial weekend brunch outing paired with a denim jacket and I felt really great in it….mostly because it’s hard to develop a post-brunch muffin top when your waistband is basically up under your boobs. Who’s with me??
Speaking of waistlines…I just started doing WeightWatchers (again) so I can hopefully lose this stubborn 10 lbs (again) before our upcoming trip to Mexico. I’ll be wearing a bikini pretty much every weekend at the beach or on the boat leading up to Mexico, but I figured it’s good to have a realistic goal, and our vacay is far enough out for me to lose the weight at a healthy pace.
A close friend and I did WeightWatchers a few years ago, and I actually lost this same stubborn 10 lbs pretty easily and kept it off for probably about a year; but then WeightWatchers switched to a new point system that I just didn’t care for since it changed the value of nearly everything I was used to eating every day. Yada yada yada, I quit using the app and tried to maintain the diet on my own. Then back injuries and bilateral foot surgery happened, so after way too much inactivity and more “flexible” eating at times, I gained back that pesky 10 lbs….womp womp. They’ve since changed their point system again, and so far I’m really liking it. I’ve been able to work out pretty intensely over the last year or so, so I feel leaner than I have in a few years, but I definitely don’t think I’ve gained 10 lbs of muscle, so it’s time to get serious about kicking my gummy bear and Twizzler addiction. =\
I’ll keep yall posted on how it goes. Wish me luck!=)
