Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start:)
I look like the biggest hot mess right now wearing an airplane pillow with an ace bandage wrapped around my neck bc I literally injured it when I yawned while stretching yesterday. I feel like the ‘bent neck’ lady from The Haunting of Hill House bc I can barely hold my own head up….ugh so annoying and painful. I had this happen about a month ago too, and it took like two weeks to fully heal. So if anyone has any treatment tips besides anti-inflammatories and ice, I’m all ears.;)
So this weekend is Memorial Day weekend, and I’m someone who uncontrollably boohoos at the first sight of an American Flag draped casket, or at the first sound of Taps. Without going into too much depressing detail, I’ll just say that this ‘holiday’ is very meaningful to me, as I’m sure it is for most of us.
It also signifies the kick off to summer boating season, and we usually celebrate this by heading out on the water with some friends and a ton of food, including some festive patriotic sweets (these sugar cookies are my absolute favorite to make for Memorial Day and Fourth of July). I like to dress for the festivities whenever I get the chance too, so I thought I’d share this red and white floral romper, as well as a round up of some other patriotic-esque threads:)
I ordered a large in the romper, which is what I usually order even though I probably could have taken a medium. I ended up having to shorten the straps which was an easy fix. The straps are adjustable, but I wanted the front a bit more cinched up so I wasn’t spilling out of it (you can’t wear a bra with this one). The bottom flares out by design, so it almost appears like a dress, vs. a typical romper.
I paired it with an old blazer I got from forever 21 like three years ago, and my new Patricia Nash Lucena wicker handbag, which is one of my favorite bags because it’s cute, and it holds so much of my crap. 😉
Most of the pieces I chose for my festive round up are very budget friendly. In addition to some colorful pieces, I also included a few simple white pieces that work well paired with fun red shoes for memorial day or the fourth of July, plus everything in between.
What are all your memorial day weekend traditions?
