Seriously you all, I currently look like a legit train wreck. I’ve been covered in stain, paint, polyurethane, and sanding dust all week trying to complete a few house projects, including my new staircase overhaul, which I’ll be sharing with you all soon. Oh, and I’m pretty sure I haven’t washed my hair since Monday….oops (edited to add that I have showered daily….I felt like I should probably mention that;)). Anyhoooo, I did manage to make myself presentable long enough for a casual brunch date with the hubbs last weekend before I went full-on grotesque, so wanted to share my outfit deets with you all to celebrate adequate hygiene (just kidding….sort of=\). Especially since this off-the-shoulder top I’m wearing is now on sale for only $13!! In case it sells out quickly, I’ve shared some additional budget-friendly off-the-shoulder finds (below) that are all currently under $25….score!=)
Let’s discuss my footwear.
Am I the only 80s kid who was forced to wear the old school wooden Dr. Scholl’s?? My mom, sister and I all had them, and I absolutely hated them as a child. However, I randomly stumbled upon the same style while doing some online Christmas shopping late last year, and wouldn’t you know, nowadays I think they’re pretty darn cute! Needless to say, I snagged the pair I’m wearing in the above pics, and ended up buying a couple pairs for my mom and sister for Christmas as well. So now we’re all twins once again….30ish years later. =\ The original style my mom made us wear were constructed with with real wood, which is probably why they weren’t my favorite when I was a kid. This was well before I embraced the concept of sacrificing comfort for the sake of fashion on occasion. You can still purchase the natural wooden style here, but I opted for the flexible synthetic sole, which are now on sale here.
Well, I have to get scrubbing on this chemical soup that’s adhered to my person, as Gertie (my dog) and I are heading down to Florida to surprise my mom for Mother’s Day. Hopefully my dad hasn’t spilled the beans yet!
I’d like to wish all of you amazing mommas out there a wonderful Mother’s Day! This includes all fur-moms too=) I mean, we often have to wipe dirty bums, experience potty training woes, negotiate with finicky eaters, make sure our babies are properly educated, well-mannered, and appropriately vaccinated, of course. 😉
With that said, may we all finally find the bottom of bottomless mimosas at our Mother’s Day Brunches this weekend….
