Hope everyone is having a fab week!
Just wanted to hop on here and share one of my recent budget buys, so if it still feels like it’s1000 degrees outside where you live, then this post is for you:) Sorry, but I just CANNOT get in the mood to buy fall clothes when it’s still this sweltering hot outside. Who’s with me?! This lightweight midi sun dress is under $15 including shipping, and I’m in love with it! This is the dress I wore to one of my high school reunion events and I got so many compliments (that is, until I sweat right through it bc of the insane Florida heat and humidity, so I had to change clothes). Be careful when you choose a color or pattern from this retailer, as I ordered the pineapple print dress, and it’s cute, but it’s not as great of quality. It looks like the white one and the white/multi striped one are the same quality as the one I’m wearing here, and I just might order them both (especially at this price!). 😉
You all should start seeing a bit of a pattern with my style and spending choices. With trendy pieces, I like to find items that are easy on the bank account bc frankly, I usually don’t end up wearing them enough to justify a high cost. Now when it comes to things like sunnies, handbags, or shoes, I will definitely splurge on occasion. 😉 You’ll notice the more high end items are on repeat a lot. Which is sort of the point, right??;) So if you get tired of seeing my Janessa Leone Gloria Hat paired with almost everything in my closet, I apologize, but I’m just over here getting my money’s worth;)
So if you’re a regular here at BreeAtLast.com, then you know I was planning to share some more round ups of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but unfortunately I’m going to have to break that little promise to you all, as I’m not thrilled with the way Nordstrom ran the sale this year. I guess you could say I have a bit of a (temporary;)) beef with them, and here’s why.
- In previous years they’ve withheld stock during the early access portion of the sale so the general public could have a shot at the same deals, but this year they decided they wouldn’t do that. I have no idea why the change, but I didn’t appreciate it since I’m not a card holder and didn’t have early access, just like many of you.
- It irritates the hell out of me that the early access part of the sale is sooooooo looooong, so since there were no re-stocks for the general public (other than some returns being restocked here and there), by the time we had access, there was literally almost nothing left. It’s total madness.
- Lastly, I just have a fundamental issue with so much emphasis being placed on getting the Nordstrom Card. I haven’t had my own credit card in like 10 years bc when I was in my 20s I learned the hard way about how easy it is to rack up credit card debt, and how it’s equally as difficult to pay it off, so I sure don’t want to push people into a potential personal debt crisis.
- They were extremely aggressive with fashion bloggers applying pressure to promote the sale. And as you all should know by now, influencers can earn a small commission on purchases made through our links (at no cost to you), but Nordstrom specifically lowered their commission rate during the sale, yet they wanted us staying up until the wee hours of the morning when the sale went live to start posting about it, among other ridiculousness. Umm…no thank you! Commissions are usually a very nominal amount, but it of course depends on the cost of the item that’s purchased (more expensive products will obviously have higher commissions). For reference, it took me almost a year to make $100 in affiliate commissions through rewardStyle, so it’s not like most bloggers are rolling in the dough by sharing affiliate links, and it’s almost not even worth the time it takes to create the link, but we have to find different ways to support the cost of doing business (hosting a quality blog and creating content isn’t free, unfortunately=\) Anyway, I just felt that it was shitty of them to lower commission during the sale, yet they wanted us to promote them round the clock and basically work for free while making them a crap ton of money in sales.
So there ya have it. Nordstrom and I are taking a bit of a break for now.:) I would love to know all your thoughts on the sale. Feel free to comment below!
