If you can’t already tell by the title of this post, I’m in a bit of a silly mood today as our long awaited summer vacay fast approaches, which is a stark change from my mood over the past couple weeks.
I’m sure I’ve touched on this before, but whenever we leave town it’s a huge production with finding house, cat, and dog sitters (our pups are incredibly high maintenance). Plus our itineraries are usually pretty varying, so packing is always a majorrr struggle for me. I’m also one who likes to have as many loose ends as possible tied up before we leave town, so I end up putting additional pressure on myself to get things done that I’ve been putting off. I also hate coming home to a dirty house, so I clean from top to bottom. My husband will be the first to say that our house is never cleaner than right before we hop on a plane.;) Wouldn’t want the sitter to know we live like pigs either, right?
We’ve also been extremely stressed about leaving Gertie while she’s still recovering from her back surgery, so we’ve been working hard with her rehab exercises and we’re hoping her sitter will find time to do some of them while we’re gone. We just want to make sure she’s in good shape so she doesn’t re-injure herself while we’re on the other side of the planet.
So long story long, these past couple weeks have been super hectic, and then with instagram being ridiculously glitchy and temperamental after some strange updates they’ve made, it seemed like a good time to take a little step back and focus on my to-do list.
In other news…
It’s difficult to tell in the hat pics, but peep the below pics and check out my hair overhaul, complements of Laura Frazier (click here for her Instagram handle) from Bayside Salon in Mount Pleasant. I had been following her on IG for a while….pretty much since I first started my blog, bc she always posts great tips and style tutorials (like this how-to about ‘no blow dryer’ styling), plus a ton of blonde hair inspo (blondes are her specialty, but she’s amazing at everything and has a ton of pro credentials and certs). I had been stuck in a bit of a pickle trying to decide whether to go back to the same ol’-same ol’ blonde highlights, or continue to let my natural color grow out, even though it hadn’t been looking too good thus far. Really, I was looking for a lower maintenance blonde, and boy did Laura deliver! For all you hair pros out there, she outlines exactly what she did in this post. I usually have to get my hair highlighted just a few days before vacation, and when we go on our two week trips it’s already depressingly growing out by the end. Thankfully I won’t have to worry about that this time!
Laura comped my hair appointment since we used it as an opportunity to produce some cool content for her business (and love on my frenchie, Gracie;)), but I still wanted to chat about her a bit here because she’s truly a talented artist and all around awesome human. Especially when it comes to her dogs (she has two adorable great danes), which is pretty much the most important quality in my book ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ One of the first things we discovered when we met is that we’ve both used the same cardiologist for our dogs, which basically tells me all I need to know–haha. (fwiw I’m under no obligation to mention her here…I just want everyone to have a great hair + have the chance to meet her:)).
So if you live in the Charleston or Mount Pleasant (South Carolina) areas and you’re on the hunt for a new stylist, Laura is ur girl! You can book an appointment with her here, and you will LOVE her. She was generous enough to offer 20% off your first appointment with code Bree20. #BONUS. And don’t worry, if you’re ‘plain jane’ (like me;)), she will not try to convince you to shave your head and/or get a bunch of tattoos. Glamming up Plain Janes (again…like yours truly haha) are another one of her specialties!
Also….as you can see, I FINALLY got my new lack of color hat in the mail. It’s still early, but I think this one might actually live up to the hype. I’ll definitely be packing it for vacay, so we’ll get some good bonding time then;)
Until next time!
